Born into the hotel industry – his parents Stephen and Penny Ross owned Bath-based properties, Homewood Park and Queensberry hotels – Tom Ross is the group operations of Home Grown Hotels, the parent company of the five-strong Pig hotel collection.
Ross’s first job in hospitality was at the Chicago Ribshack, before later joining Hotel du Vin in Winchester, from where he moved to the US to work at Fearrington House Inn in North Carolina and later the French Laundry restaurant in Napa Valley, California.
On his return to the UK, Ross re-joined Hotel du Vin in Brighton before taking up his first general manager role at the company’s hotel in Tunbridge Wells. He moved to the Old Bank and Old Parsonage hotels in Oxford as operations director, before teaming up again with Robin Hutson to open the Pig near Bath in 2012 as hotel director. He was appointed to his current position in 2016.
